DaVinci Emily Mini Crib Review

Emily mini cribThe DaVinci Emily mini crib offers the same sleek, modern design of the full-sized Emily convertible crib, but it is designed to be more compact. This version of the crib measures more than 14 inches shorter on the front and back panels, about 6 inches shorter on the sides, and is almost 4 inches shorter in height. It still accommodates a regular crib mattress but the actual crib holding the mattress is compact.

Is the Emily Mini Crib Right for You?

There are a couple different situations in which it simply makes sense to purchase the DaVinci Emily mini crib rather than the full sized version:

1. You have a smaller sized nursery and want to fit in everything needed for complete comfort and care of your baby.
2. You want a smaller sized crib to tuck into the corner of another room in the home for convenient daytime napping.

Of course, there is one big sacrifice when you purchase the DaVinci Emily mini crib rather than the full sized version: toddler bed/day bed conversion. The full sized version includes everything needed to turn the crib into a day or toddler bed, but you can’t do that with the mini version.

You can turn the mini version into a full or twin sized bed, but you need to purchase a separate rail kit. This is the same as with the full sized crib.

Everything else about the DaVinci Emily mini crib is the same as with the full sized crib. The sleeping deck still moves to four different positions so you can keep the baby at easy reach while they are small and lower it down to confine them as they start to stand and climb.

The crib is also still made of natural pine wood from New Zealand which is completely sustainable. This is a softer wood than many others, which is an added benefit when you are dealing with a crib that may be hit by a falling baby just learning to stand on the side rails. The side rails do not move or drop down so they present no danger to the baby.

DaVinci is known as one of the safest crib makers currently being sold in the U.S. This crib meets or exceeds all U.S. safety standards and includes no toxic materials, including the woods stain or paint.

You do have to purchase the mattress separately, but DaVinci throws in a 1-inch foam mattress topper. This is not the highest quality topper and many parents decide to purchase something of higher quality so it will provide more comfort, but it is a nice feature since most crib manufacturers do not throw that in.

DaVinci Emily Mini Crib Options

You still have the same selection of stain colors and paint as with the full sized Emily crib from DaVinci:
* White
* Natural
* Oak
* Espresso
* Cherry
* Ebony

This wide array of color options is nice because it makes the Da Vinci mini Emily crib suitable for literally any baby’s nursery. It doesn’t even matter whether you are having a boy or girl! There is a crib color here that will look great with your chosen room decor.

The Ebony and cherry finishes are by far the most popular and can be used in a boy’s or girl’s nursery. They both have a very elegant, refined look and the colors are easily matched to other pieces of furniture.
